Cornerstone Summer Conference – Saturday June 29th 2013

Posted Wednesday 17th July 2013

We’re really looking forward to joining the other Cornerstone churches at this year’s Cornerstone Summer Conference on Saturday 29thJune; we are expecting a great day together!

We’re delighted that Sandy Millar is leading and speaking in the adult sessions. Our children and young people have equally good sessions lined up; Mindy Easton from Gateway Christian Centre is leading the youth stream, Kate Irvine and Rachel Harris are leading our children’s work, along with Natalie Addis and Paula Stragg running the crèche and pre-school group during the conference. Natalie and Paula both work at Kiddywinks (the nursery at the BRI in Campden). Both are experienced and hold NVQ Level 3’s in Child Care. Our worship team will be leading the worship.

Throughout the day we’ll have space and time to worship, learn, respond to God, as well as spend time in fellowship together. A prayer ministry team will be available to pray things through with you during the day.

Sandy_Millar.jpgThe Rt. Rev’d John Kirkpatrick “Sandy” Millar practised for 10 years as a barrister before being ordained into the Church of England in 1976. He joined the staff of Holy Trinity Brompton (HTB) as curate in 1976, becoming Vicar in 1985. He oversaw the growth of HTB to the largest church in the Church of England and its ‘church planting’ initiative into church buildings in other parts of London on the verge of extinction. He was responsible for overseeing the growth of the Alpha Course from a small local parish resource to one used by thousands of churches around the world. He was installed as a Prebendary of St. Paul’s Cathedral in1997.

After 20 years as Vicar of HTB, he stood down in July 2005 and became Vicar of St. Mark Tollington Park in a deprived part of London. In November 2005, he was consecrated as an Assistant Bishop in the Province of Uganda in a joint initiative of the Archbishop of Uganda, the Archbishop of Canterbury and the Bishop of London. In February 2006 he was licensed to act as an assistant Bishop in the Diocese of London at a major service led by the Bishop of London in St Paul’s Cathedral. He retired in 2011. He is married to Annette and they have four children.
