The Cornerstone churches — including Bidford Baptist — hold their annual summer conference this year on 23-24 June, at Chipping Campden High School, with main speaker Nick Cuthbert on Followers of Jesus in Today’s World.

There will be no service at theBarn on Sunday 24 June.

As well as the main adults programme running from 9:20 am to 8:30 pm on Saturday and 10:00 am to 1:00 pm on Sunday, there is a Kids Sleepover (Year 4-6) at Chipping Campden Baptist and programmes for Children (Year R-3) and Youth (Year 6-Year 11) at Campden High School.

Main Speaker: Nick Cuthbert

Nick & Lois Cuthbert have lived and worked in Birmingham for the past 40 years. Nick was initially invited to work at the cathedral amongst young people; they soon found ourselves caught up in a very exciting citywide youth revival which included setting up the ‘Jesus Centre’.

Nick then travelled extensively doing university missions. In 1984, along with three other couples, they founded Riverside Church, now a large church in South Birmingham and have recently handed over the leadership to others. He has always been involved in working together with churches across the city and have been made a lay canon at Birmingham Cathedral.

Nick spends a certain amount of time speaking both in teaching, leadership training and evangelism in a variety of places both here and overseas. His passion, as well as helping people come to faith, is trying to come to terms with the huge changes taking place in society and helping churches to find new ways to engage in mission. Lois is involved in counsel- ling and life coaching as well as some speaking and travelling with Nick. Along with Chris Stoddard, he has written a book on principles and practice of mission, Church on the Edge. They have just launched a new leadership training initiative based around learning communities of churches called ‘Lead Academy.’ Nick has written a number of other books, Rise up and Build, Charismatics in Crisis, God is my Father, as well as the most recent ‘How to survive and thrive as a church leader.’Nick & Lois have two sons, Andrew and Mark, both married, and four gorgeous grandchildren. For relaxation, he enjoys golf, photography, occasional skiing, and walking. They both love the cinema and good food and wine shared with friends.
